From 2022 to 2023, the first "Gusu Cup" Yangtze River Delta Intelligent Transportation Innovation and Technology Application Competition was successfully held in the provinces of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, as well as the municipality of Shanghai. It garnered widespread attention and recognition from various sectors of society, making positive and effective contributions to showcasing the achievements of intelligent transportation development in the Yangtze River Delta, disseminating experiences in intelligent transportation innovation and development, and sharing new technologies and applications. In order to further implement the national development strategies of building a transportation powerhouse and integrating the Yangtze River Delta, promote the digital transformation of the transportation industry, advance innovation in intelligent transportation, strengthen the construction of talent in the transportation sector, stimulate the innovative vitality of a wide range of scientific and technological talents, and promote exchanges and cooperation both within and outside the industry, the organizing committee has decided to continue to jointly host the second "Shanggang Cup" Yangtze River Delta Intelligent Transportation Innovation and Technology Application Competition this year.
This competition, themed "Smart Transportation for a Better Life," aims to utilize next-generation digital information technology to promote the development of intelligent transportation, enhance the efficiency and safety of transportation systems, provide convenient and comfortable travel experiences and transportation services, and offer higher-quality services to improve people's quality of life and provide high-quality logistics support for economic and social development. The competition will focus on key aspects of intelligent transportation such as engineering construction, management and operation, travel services, safety, etc., integrating industry innovation resources, gathering expertise and wisdom, building an innovative environment for the industry, exploring cutting-edge technologies based on digitalization and intelligence in transportation, providing impetus for industry innovation growth, and promoting the sustained high-quality development of intelligent transportation.
In the fields of intelligent transportation research, design, implementation, management, and product development in highways, water transportation, railways, aviation, postal services, express delivery, urban public transportation, and other emerging sectors, including enterprises, institutions, social organizations, universities, vocational schools, and technical schools engaged in management, technology, and skilled personnel.
For this competition, teams are formed freely, with no more than 10 participants (including 1 individual). Each participating team should clearly designate a primary participant. Ideally, the primary participant should not exceed 3 individuals based on project division of labor. Specifically: for teams with 5 or fewer participants (including 5), the primary participant should not exceed 1 individual; for teams with 6-8 participants, the primary participant should not exceed 2 individuals; for teams with 9-10 participants, the primary participant should not exceed 3 individuals.
In cases where multiple units collaborate in participation, the leading unit is determined by the primary personnel and the main undertaking unit of the project. Other participating units are considered collaborative units. Once submitted for preliminary evaluation, participating works, as well as the primary participant and team members, cannot be changed.
Submission Requirements: In accordance with the theme of this competition, the competition actively implements the national development requirements for digital economy and digital transportation, focusing on new-generation digital information technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things, 5G, blockchain, etc., innovatively applying and implementing them throughout the entire life cycle of various transportation modes, including planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation, and management. Contest entries are encouraged to actively explore intelligent transportation innovation technologies and solutions, promote industrial development, and facilitate widespread application.
Entries must be authentic, healthy, and legal, devoid of any negative information. Entries must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others; any inventions, patents, technologies, or resources involved must possess clear and legal intellectual property rights or property rights. Plagiarism, theft, provision of false materials, or violation of relevant laws and regulations, once discovered, will immediately result in disqualification from the competition and the entrant will bear all legal responsibilities.
The competition will be divided into five regions: Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, and universities. We will coordinate with the competent authorities, associations, relevant enterprises and institutions, and universities in the Yangtze River Delta to strengthen pre-competition publicity and promotion, implement the work, specify the responsible units for each region, and organize the collection of entries and preliminary evaluations from provinces/cities and universities in each region.
The opening ceremony of the competition will be implemented and hosted by the Shanghai division.

These entries may include tangible products or system software with practical applications, as well as algorithms, models, and other forms of innovation.
According to the unified requirements of the competition organizing committee, each regional competition area shall organize experts to review the entries that have been registered and submitted within the specified time frame. Entries meeting the stipulated criteria will be selected to advance to the next round of the competition in accordance with the designated proportions.
The organizing committee of the competition has convened experts to review the entries that have advanced to the semi-finals. This review process includes presentations, demonstrations, Q&A sessions, and other segments. All judges will evaluate the entries based on predetermined criteria and rank them accordingly. Entries that meet the specified criteria will proceed to the final stage of the competition, and outstanding awards will be conferred accordingly. The semi-final proceedings of the competition are overseen by the Shanghai team.
The organizing committee of the competition has convened experts to review the entries that have advanced to the finals. This review process includes presentations, demonstrations, Q&A sessions, and other segments. All judges will evaluate the entries based on predetermined criteria, scoring them and subsequently ranking them. The final list of winners, including special awards, first prize, second prize, and third prize, will be determined. The final stage of the competition is overseen by the Shanghai regional team.
The award ceremony of the competition will be organized by the Shanghai division, intended to be combined with the 4th Intelligent Transportation Shanghai Forum on November 7, 2024. The ceremony will invite leaders and guests from relevant units to attend, and present various awards set by the competition organizing committee. The award ceremonies of each division will be arranged by the division organizing committees according to the actual situation.An investor meeting will be convened to facilitate the participation of award-winning projects with industrial value, promoting the practical application of outstanding project achievements. The 30th World Intelligent Transportation Congress will be held in Dubai in 2024, during which the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee may recommend outstanding competition projects for exhibition and promotion based on the actual situation.
